In Glaucoma the Real Battle Is Not the Disease — It's Drop Adherence
Asking a patient with no symptoms to use drops for life — that is glaucoma's real difficulty.
In short: what do I need to know?
Asking a patient with no symptoms to use drops for life — that is glaucoma's real difficulty.
The Logic of Non-Adherence
In glaucoma the real battle is not with the disease but with adherence. A large share of patients skip their drops — and from their perspective the reasoning is entirely logical: they have no symptoms, their vision is normal, there is no pain, and the drops are costly and tedious.
Lost visual field, however, never returns, and patients notice only years later when most of the loss has occurred. At that point everything said is too late.
Pulling Awareness Forward
A glaucoma animation shows aqueous circulation and how a blocked drainage angle raises pressure, then how that pressure grinds down optic nerve fibres over time-lapsed years.
The decisive module is visual field simulation: showing the patient's own future sight narrowing from the edges inward. For the first time, the drops mean something.
Drop Technique: A Hidden Failure Cause
Poor instillation technique is an under-discussed cause of treatment failure. Correct instillation, punctal occlusion and spacing between drops, shown visually, measurably improve effectiveness.
The Treatment Ladder
Drops, laser (SLT) and surgery (trabeculectomy, tube implants, MIGS) form an escalation ladder. Showing it pre-answers "why surgery now?"
Family Screening: The Highest-Return Closing
A closing module on hereditary risk and first-degree screening converts one patient into several — the best-performing single content block in this specialty.
